I want to become a Pilates teacher – where can I get my certification?

You've discovered your passion for Pilates – and now you want to take the next step? Teaching Pilates can be incredibly fulfilling, but choosing the right training is crucial.

Here you will learn which certificates exist, what distinguishes them, and how to make the right decision.

🔍 What Pilates certifications are there?

In Germany and internationally, these training programs are particularly well-known:

1. BASI Pilates (Body Arts and Science International)

  • Origin: USA, recognized worldwide

  • Focus: Classical Pilates combined with modern science

  • Advantage: Very thorough, many further training options

  • Location in Germany: e.g. Berlin, Munich, Hamburg

2. Stott Pilates

  • Origin: Canada

  • Focus: Contemporary Pilates with a focus on rehabilitation and biomechanics

  • Known for: Excellent anatomy training, numerous continuing education courses

3. Polestar Pilates

  • Origin: USA

  • Focus: Rehabilitation-oriented, evidence-based

  • Especially suitable for: Physiotherapists & medical professionals

4. Balanced Body

  • Flexible modular system

  • Often also suitable for international teachers

  • Advantage: Some learning content can be started online.

5. Peak Pilates

  • Strongly classically oriented, originally based on Joseph Pilates' method

  • Especially suitable for: Fans of the "original" Pilates style

🗺️ What should you pay attention to when making your choice?

Teaching style: Would you prefer a more traditional or modern teaching style?
Location & Time: Are there any in-person modules near you?
Language: Many courses are held in English – are you comfortable with that?
Future plans: Do you want to teach internationally later? Then pay attention to international recognition.
Costs & Duration: A full training course usually takes several months and costs several thousand euros – an investment that pays off.

💡 Personal tip:

Talk to already trained teachers, observe classes in studios and get information directly from the training providers.

If you already train at a Pilates studio, ask for recommendations – studios often have close partnerships with specific schools.

🧦 And what does that have to do with Griplies?

No matter where you do your training – non-slip, comfortable socks will accompany you through all reformer and mat sessions.
Griplies socks not only help you during your workout, but they also look great in your first Instagram teaching videos. 😉
